This adventure started out as trying to make my own liquid pectin from (sour) apples for making jelly. I attempted the recipe found here, but I did not have cheese cloth for the staining. Instead I used my ancient berry/tomato de-seeder strainer and ended up with applesauce that had a high level of pectin (I hoped). … Continue reading Blackberry-Apple Jelly
It wasn't until I was in my teens that I was introduced to quiche. I always thought it sounded so fancy. Quiche. But you know what it is? A giant egg pie. But it's so good. In our house, quiche is eaten for any meal. It's perfect for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. This is a basic … Continue reading Crustless Quiche
Oh I was so excited to be done with buying dry active yeast. I had my precious sourdough. But then it hit me. How am I going to make pizza? I had only ever found recipes for dry active yeast, but there must be one out there! The first pizza was not made with dry active yeast.

This morning was one of those mornings it felt like I had a million and three things to do. It felt like I had so many things to do that I just didn't want to do any of them. Instead, I gave myself something to savor and get myself going: a latte.
For the first year, our pumpkins went crazy. In the previous years, we were lucky to get one or two. However, from three mounds we grew TEN pumpkins this year. That is a whole lot of pumpkin. Which brought me to the question of "What am I going to do with all of these pumpkins?!"
The only recipe for cinnamon rolls you will ever want to eat again...
There isn't much that is more satisfying than making and canning your own pickles/tomato sauce/salsa/jelly etc. However, unless you have a (*non-electric) pressure cooker, there are a lot of things you can't safely can without pickling. And in my opinion, there are some things that just shouldn't be pickled.
